🧿 Who is De Handpânist?
| DE HANDPÂNIST | ✋🏽🧿🤚🏽
is the artist name of Háshem Kabreet, a Handpan artist, Percussionist, Workshop Leader & Artivist, rooted in Syria & based in The Netherlands.
In this project, I’m diving deep into the world of the Handpan — one of the newest acoustic instruments to emerge in recent times.
Through recordings, live performances, original compositions, covers & collaborations, I showcase the incredible range & magic of the Handpan instrument.
🧿 Instrument & Mission:
The Handpan, also known as the Hang Drum or Pantam, was originally developed by PANArt in Switzerland in the early 2000s.
Inspired by the steelpan, it combines melodic & harmonic tones with percussive qualities, becoming popular in meditative & contemporary music.
beyond just playing, I am on a mission to experiment what this instrument has to offer & challenge stereotypes that are starting to form around it.
🧿 5 Years Love Story:
For the past five years, I have been in a loving open relationship with my Handpan, a companion that has captured my heart & transformed my musical journey.
This deep connection has allowed me to play my own compositions & tell personal stories, all while adding a unique spin to Arabic & Middle Eastern eternal melodies.
Whether performing solo or collaborating with other talented world artists, I strive to push the boundaries of the Handpan’s potential.
